The thesis of the short film
“Happiness is a disease” challenge our common perception
of what happiness is. liNa cleverly uses humor and statistics to present
an alternative perspective on happiness, and further suggest that
there are plural truths. Research in the fields of psychology, sociology,
biology and chemistry focused on the question of whether happiness
is “good for us”. The author reconstruct her
findings to suggest that happiness
is a psychological disease, like depression, that is triggered by
a chemical imbalance in the brain and characterized by its delusional
effects on the carrier. Happiness influence our decision making, and
in a worst-case scenario could threaten the survival of the human
race.
